STARLIGHT YELLOW CAKE

STARLIGHT YELLOW CAKE,

Ingredients : 12 Serving :


  • 2 1⁄4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
  • 3 1⁄2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1⁄2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1⁄4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

Preparation :


1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom and side of 2 (9-inch) or 3 (8-inch) round pans with shortening; lightly flour.

2. In large bowl, beat all ingredients except frosting with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly. Beat on high speed 3 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into pans.

3. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean or cake springs back when touched lightly in center. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to cooling rack.
Cool completely, about 1 hour.

4. Fill and frost with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting.

  • Starlight Cherry Cake: Stir in 1⁄2 cup dried cherries after beating batter in Step 2. Frost with Cherry-Nut Frosting.
  • Starlight Peanut Butter Cake: Substitute peanut butter for the butter. Frost with Fudge Frosting.
